What are the fine white particles floating in the water from the tap? This has been present since before the water main break. I noticed it when the bottom of my tea kettle was coated with what I thought was hard water deposits but after I cleaned the kettle (vinegar then rinse with water) the same deposit was seen after only one kettle of boiled water.
I have been boiling my water - and still see those particles floating in the water. These particles pass through a coffee filter and I even see a few in the post Brita filtered water.
I am worried they may be hazardous. Even water used to boil potatoes may need to be filtered prior to use.
The water taste and quality (when available) have been subpar IMO since the fire. I've replaced faucets, shower heads and coffee makers due to hard mineral deposits. I pay as much for water delivery service (from Costco) as we do for our BBW water bill (about $50/mo)...something is wrong with that picture! I fully expect our rates to at least double when the lawsuit for receivership goes thru and or when the system is sold to the private, out of state company that has a purchase agreement in place.
Unfortunaltely, our current water issues will continue and likely get worse until they completely rebuild the system which will be years if not decades. The system is vast and in very rugged mountain territory.
I hope people can check their tap water to see if they have the same issue.
